Accepting Submissions for the 2025 Festival

The debut festival year will share in CIRCA Pintig’s season theme of KAPWA, or kindred, as the festival seeks to connect our Kapwang Pilipino through new writing centered around the Filipino and Filipino American experience. The festival will present up to four evenings of theatrical works from, up-and-coming and established Filipino playwrights, as well as readings and performances of the following works:
Leaving Mother: Anak ni Tapia by Lani Montreal
Daryo’s All-American Diner by Conrad Panganiban (Chicago Reader’s Best New Play, 2023)
Krossroad the Musical by Foline Roos
The Butterfly of Chula Vista by Giovanni Ortega (Hear U.S. Now San Diego Rep Commission) in collaboration with PrideArts

Submissions are now open for the 2025 Chicago FIlipino American Theatre Festival
In our second year of the festival, we are exploring the theme of dreams, or ating mga pangarap.
PANGARAP (dream) – as a return to what many Filipinos and Filipino Americans strive for in their pursuit of the “American Dream,” we want to explore the possibilities that dreams have within our culture and community: possibly a family working hard to give their children a chance to live out their dreams, or the realization of a person’s dream having to change or adjust. Works in this theme challenges the audience to explore, be curious, and be in pursuit, providing optimism to our community and feed our resilience with the promise of a dream come true.
