About the show
29-year-old Filipino drag queen Jomar is at a crossroads, so he decides to throw himself a Filipino “debut,” a celebration traditionally held for Filipina girls when they turn eighteen into womanhood, as a way to give himself a new start into his thirties. And while his family is supportive, they struggle to keep up with their diva’s demands. But as the venue falls through, and the lechon is nowhere to be found, Jomar ultimately finds that the love given to him by his family is all he needs to love himself.
Get hyped as CIRCA Pintig brings the loud, fun, and flamboyant energy of a Filipino party in this one-act production, touring Debut across multiple theaters in its fall run: Filament Theatre (4041 N Milwaukee Ave), Bughouse Theater (1910 W Irving Park Rd), and Rizal Center (1332 W. Irving Park Rd.), Chicago.
